Our History

OUR HISTORY

Grace Bible Church began as a Bible study in the summer of 1979 and formally incorporated as a church in the fall of 1979. The founding families shared a vision for having God’s Word accurately proclaimed as sufficient for every area of life.

The church initially met at Central Texas Title and the First National Bank downtown. For a number of years Northwest Bible Church of Fort Worth provided assistance in a “mother-daughter” relationship by offering the leadership of their elder board for GBC.

The church obtained a piece of property and moved into its first building on Easter Sunday, 1981 and an addition to the building was completed three years later. A multi-purpose facility was dedicated in October, 1997 and work continues to be done on it on a pay-as-you-go basis. The church is debt free and plans to continue to operate in that manner.

Grace Bible Church is an independent church, and functions under the leadership of a pastor, elders and deacons.

Our Beliefs

OUR BELIEFS

  1. That God superintended the authors of the Scriptures so that, using their own individual literary styles, they composed and recorded, without error, God’s revelation to man in the words of the original manuscripts. Because of this, the Bible is the final authority under God in the life of the Christian.

  2. In one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons--the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and having the same attributes and perfections.

  3. That the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became a man without ceasing to be God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Further, we believe that He died on the cross for our sins as our substitute and that He physically rose from the dead and ascended to heaven where He is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is our High Priest, Intercessor, and Advocate.

  4. That the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and that He indwells all believers, operating as the Divine Teacher who leads men into all truth and empowers the believer for godly living and service.

  5. That man was created in the image and likeness of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost and entirely unable to save himself.

A complete doctrinal statement is available below in the Constitution section.
